Yuliya Olegovna Volkova (Yulia, Julia)
Born in 20 February 1985 in Moscow. Her Western-like name is Yulia or Julia. Nickname Yulya. More friendly name Yulechka (pronounced as yUlyechka), Yul'ka (pronounced as yUl(y)ka), Yul', etc. She also has a daughter born in 23 September 2004, named Viktoriya Pavlovna (her western-like name is Victoria, nickname Vika).
Elena Sergeevna Katina (Lena)
Born in 4 October 1984 in Moscow. Her nickname is Lena. More friendly name Lenochka (pronounced as lyEnachka), Lenka, Len, etc. Her father Sergey Katin is famous composer.
Sergey Galoyan
Born in December 1981 in Moscow. Most of t.A.T.u.'s songs are composed by him. He'll take part in t.A.T.u.'s 2nd albom.

YUGOSLAVIA
In 1998, Alexander Voitinsky began a music project with a friend of his Ivan Shapovalov. They held an audition by the little money and found Lena Katina, a menber of kid's band Neposedy, a daughter of famous composer Sergey Katin. They had only a little money and their project didn't easily progress.
In March 1999, NATO began to bomb Yugoslavia, where Voitinsky's brothers and sisters lived in her capital Belgrade. And they were killed by bombings. Out of this tragedy, Voitinsky made a song. The song, named Yugoslavia, were sung by Lena Katina, but they couldn't send Yugoslavia to people.
After that, the initiative of the project was taken by Shapovalov. He made a groupe consists of Lena Katina and her friend Yulia Volkova. The groupe was named TATU and TATU made great successes. On the other hand Voitinsky left the project.
Voitinsky's Yugoslavia became a phantom song. However, after the successes of TATU, an interview with Voitinsky was broadcasted and Yugoslavia was used as the background music. Yugoslavia, quite different from TATU's image, was the song that moves people.
NATO's bombing to Yugoslavia ended in June 1999 and Yugoslavia, as the name of a nation, disappeared in 2003. But lost lifes never return and scars of the war is still borne. And unreasonable tragedies under the theory of superpowers still continue. The song Yugoslavia is necessary for the present world, not only as a song of a passed tragedy, but also as the song of present problems.
Alexander Voitinsky
Born in 1961 in Moscow. As a menber of the project later known as TATU, he composed Zachem ya?(Stars), Doshshitay do sta(count to 100), Robot. After he left TATU, he produced the rock group Zveri, which is now very popular in Russia. He also arranged Ukrainian singer Ruslana's song Wild Dances, which won 1st prize at Eurovision 2004.
